From what I know, being transgender has many different meanings for people who actually are. It's delicate & difficult to please everyone with articulation. I saw someone transgender on Big Brother who didn't like being called transgender at all. I forget what she said she thought she was, but it was different than "transgender." I think it's just something you have to learn about for each individual for how they would like others to think/talk about it.

I'm saying it from my point of view, as a trans person, and I'm also going off what all my trans friends say. Being called a "transgender" over a "transgender person" feels
kind of rude. I know some people feel differently about it, but it's how I feel about it.
Also, the trans bathroom issue is a huge deal for us. It may not seem so big to people who aren't transgender, but it's an issue I have to deal with on a day to day basis.
