Don't you think they have the right to define how they specifically should be described when you describe something more complex than simple male/female. Wouldn't calling someone fat be correct, yet still offensive? Wouldn't calling someone who is short, a midget, be correct, yet still offensive? There's no problem with calling someone the name they want to be called. It's not really your choice as to whether or not someone takes offense to being called by a certain name.

Calling someone fat or a midget is completely different. People who are transgender want to be referred to as trasngender, people don't want to be called fat or a midget. Of course it's not my choice and I kinda get why she may feel offended but I don't think there's any reason to be. They're obviously people and I respect them, however I'm going to treat them like any other person. I know a few transgender people and they've all told me they want to be treated just like anyone else, so that's what I'm going to do and if you find that offensive then I'm sorry.
