The new nearby system isn't really anything special yet. They only released a bit of it.

This one now updates the nearby every few secs I believe. When you see a nearby Pokemon and you go pass the radar distance the radar will pop it off your nearby listing.

It keeps updating so you don't have to restart the game when a Pokemon stays on it.
