Recently I've been doing the Pyrat Quest. I've been thinking of ways to improve it(make it less monotonous, more player intrigue, ect). One of my ideas was for a "Pyrat Captain" who would serve as a half-boss, or rare baddy.
I thought up a two versions of him, depending on how much reward you would want him to yield.
1. The Pyrat Leader. Basically just a ripped version of the "Bandit Leader" baddy. Would instead drop 10 patches, some maps, and maybe a few loots. Should probably appear fairly often.
2. The Pyrat Captain. A Halloween-giant-pumpkin like boss would give out prize items, such as pyrat themed hats, furniture, etc. or perhaps he would explode and drop tons of patches and gralats, just as the pumpkin dropped candy. Could appear infrequently.
I feel as though this could break up the monotonous baddy killing. Once the Pyrat Captain spawned everyone would flock to him for the large patches drops and other items.
Another idea I had would be a "streaking" system for the pyrat quest. Everyday you consecutively complete your pyrat quest, 1%(irrelevant number, just an example) is added onto your total. So after 3 days you would earn 1030 gralats instead of 1000. It would make the people more loyal to it, as it would add benefit to doing it everyday. However, it wouldn't drastically imbalance money earnings. Even after 100 consecutive days you would only be earning 2k per day. And to be real, most players probably wouldn't reach 100 days in a row.
The last idea would be; add a tracker that tracks how many times a player has done the pyrat quest. After certain milestones(1,10,50,100,500,1000?) have the leader of the York guard give out items to the player. I imagine it would go as follows.
1- gralats
10- food
50- food
100- hat
500- furniture
1000- gani?
You could decrease or increase the number of milestones, depending on how much content you wanted the update to add. Could also use whatever items you want. I only chose food because I know players like rare food, and this could be a place you could add it in.
Thoughts? Other ideas?
(sorry if you mentioned these ideas in another thread, couldn't remember anyone saying them).
