Despite how long it's been since the rumours about this began, the hype is still very high and I think you're going to see a lot of players getting active again once it drops.
As long as the update has all the things we've been talking about (more guild members, points, promotes loyalty, etc.) there's really no way it can be a letdown.
I'm sure the staff are toiling away, and hopefully we'll have this update before 2018.
