I disagree, because everybody has short term goals as well as long term goals, and that also goes collectively for us as a nation (or as a planet, for that matter). For example, look at NASA. Their budget has been cut numerous times significantly, but in the end tremendous scientific progress has been made. There are more extreme examples on both sides, yes, but I assume you get the point I'm trying to make. I'm not saying I agree or disagree with what Trump is doing, but I am disagreeing that it's an invalid argument.

That's not the argument I made, though. It's not about reducing the funds or anything like that, it's about not recognizing it or contributing to a cause to reduce global warming. There's no middle area, unlike the funding for NASA. And if America says China contributes a lot so it doesn't matter if we try to fight global warming, then that's a poor, baseless argument. Basically it's saying China contributes to global warming and won't stop, so let's just contribute a lot too.
