this is the oldest point of confusion in the book. you dont skimp out on the psu because if it ****s your other components can also get ****ed
a bronze 450w psu trying to push "340 W" is basically pushing the thing to work. a platinum 550w would probably still have its fan off because its cruise control ezpz for it to power your system. i would also take those measurements with a grain of salt.

I hear ya. My first computer I bought a really ****ty PSU and it shorted out my MB. Forgive my ignorance but are you saying a platinum 700w psu would run better than a bronze psu? I thought the only difference between the levels were just energy efficiency and your electric bill?
