Christians, Jews and Muslims have been fighting over that land for literally thousands of years because each one of them believe that they rightfully own it. There's this thing that you may not know about called the Crusades. Yeah it was this terrible series of wars that pretty much resulted in this Christian vs. Muslim **** that we have to put up with today.

It was only after WWII when the UN had the GENIUS idea of just taking that land and giving it to whoever they wanted without thinking of the possible repercussions it could have.

It honestly would've been easier to just force open an underwater volcano to create a new island for them.
