This even is a win for the competitive community, because if people see that they could earn more points by doing competitive activties they'll switch, since catching bugs is a slow process (and would become even slower if they were worth points, since there would be more competition). It could become a gateway of sorts.

Now that I think about it. They probably didn't bother to include casual activities for that specific reason. This forces more people to play competitively, and bring back those who don't spar, pk, or bk much anymore
If they were to add the more casual activities to the points system, then maybe it wouldn't have the same effect. *to bring in more competition for these dying activities*
