While yes it is like swords, it is again an exhausting resource. How often are you gonna always hit your target with a sword? You probably don't hit as often as you think you do. While the hitbox does last longer . It's infront of you. So unless the person is a complete noob and runs infront of you, They're easy to dodge and avoid.
Truthfully, I feel the lantern does need something to make it more unique as a weapon. Doesn't have to be a damage upgrade, But something where it is more unique and more desired of a weapon. Since honestly the lantern has more disadvantages than advantage especially in PK. Which is why the only real advantage to lantern is using them to kill yourself with a bomb. The lingering hitbox only last like a second. And considering you already swung the lantern once and most likely would miss if you're counting on the lingering effect to damage them, unless they are blind to walk into it or are extremely inexperienced. It don't really do much.and you'll likely not hit at all

It's pretty easy to hit people with your sword in a packed flag room. You have 5 uses with the lantern, which is only restrictive if you're spamming it. Well-timed uses between sword swings shouldn't exhaust it. Also, running in front of someone in a tower doesn't make you a noob. Picture a flag room with 10+ players. It's literally impossible to not be running in front of SOMEONE from time to time, especially if the defenders are being aggressive. The lantern would also have strategic uses, such as using it around the corners of the flag and at choke points in the tower. It is sometimes impossible to avoid these types of damage, especially if you're being chased, so a 1.0 hit would be pretty harsh.
This is an extreme view, but I actually wish bombs, arrows and lanterns were all disabled in towers. None of them are as good or will ever be as good as the sword, and they're mostly used in toxic ways (eg. suiciding, killing guild members, spamming). They basically just mess with the dynamics of the tower. Everyone accepts that they don't belong in spar, and I think towers should be the same way. Think of mounts too, it used to be normal that they were allowed in towers, but now we see how weird that was.
