Feels really uncomfortable and unfair to be unable to resell common furniture
|
Uncomfortable? I agree. I still haven't managed to drop enough stuff to buy anything at nexus. It's not an issue of not having the gralats, just deciding on where I want to vomit 1500 objects in my furniture inventory. Basically I have to sacrifice rooms in my layout in order to have enough space to buy things. It really really sucks.
BUT if there was no furniture cap this would not be an issue.
Unfair? I agree to a point. They can set the resale value of any item (or just give you nothing at all for it in lieu of 'trashing it' technically). This is reasonable and should somehow impact who buys what items over time. Take uploads for example - you get no actual cash back anymore and because of this, I can only imagine people think twice before buying them now. It's reasonable, clearly outlined, and absolutely the norm in other games.
BUT there was no warning.
If there was a big old
'Hey faithful players, we're going to reduce the furniture values from 1/2 sale price to 10 gralats in a week's time, so please sell what you don't want now' it would have been fair and good. Same with retroactively devaluing items that people had paid full price on (halloween) or reducing the value of items that had previously been higher from events (christmas/halloween).
I had paid some 5-10k g for the 'bat' furniture items (bookshelves, clock, etc) and now they're being given away for essentially nothing in the grab bags. At the time, I was like 'where did the ones I paid for go?' but then I realized they were included in the stack of items I had received from grab bags and were now not possible to sell except for 1 g.
Not to thump a dead horse, but this all goes back to a solid monetization strategy.
