Wouldn't the moon mask in Taylor Richards be copyrighted? Since it looks exactly like the moon from Legend of Zelda Majora's mask, idk how exactly everything works copyright wise in hats and whatnot.

I have a theory on how it works, correct me if I’m wrong of course. If any random person who had no idea where this moon came from, they would simply think of it as a “angry moon” as the name labels. This is the exact point: as long as the hat is relative to an item that people exists in real life or is a common concept (for example, a moon...) AND is labeled as a totally different item, then any copright claims will be false. Not to mention, there are many other “angry moons” seen through out different places.
Now you may contradic, saying “well what about my body that was refunded because of copyright claims! You’re saying that admins can make obvious copyrighted hats and items but I can’t?!!??!” If you rewind a little, you might remember when I said that the item must be labeled what it is. That’s the big problem. Body’s and head’s don’t HAVE labels. Anyone could claim the name of what that item is. That’s where the copy right comes in. The company/group/person that made the original item, would sue for copyright, because the item is assumed to be the product they copied, and because there is no in-game label to back up the claim, you’re screwed. This is probably why admins are very cautious when it comes to uploads, than other in-game items. While the in-game items are labeled and clarified on what they are, uploads are NOT. That’s pretty much it, I think.
Oops, I think I made this a little too long....

^pretty much! Although when we make things that are similar to copyrighted things, we do make them different. main difference with the moon is that it has sharp teeth, unlike the moon from MM that has human-like teeth. We never make anything that a straight up rip from something else. There's always something different. Unless its generic enough that it doesn't matter anyway. But yeah, changing the label and changing the look enough so that people still get the reference that it's from but making it different enough to not be copyright.
When it comes to custom uploads, a lot of people make the exact person/thing that it's based off of with no changes, plus the fact that people will wear these things and change their name to whoever they're trying to be...doesn't help. That is the big difference as to why we're so strict when it comes to custom uploads. Believe me, we're very, very careful when we make things that look like other well-known things. There's been plenty of times we've had to turn down or completely change things we've made in order to make sure it won't be a copyright infringement.
