I've never once heard of gaming addictions ever being as bad or as serious as something like Heroine addiction, Or Opiod addiction, Or anything life threatening, But if you consider a 13 year old addicted to minecraft to be as equal of a concern then someone on heroin for example then i think we see differently. I also don't see why it's a big deal either, What else do you expect the average kid to do anymore? While yes there is kids into sports and whatnot but not everyone digs that. You also have to remember that the reason a lot of kids also play games to begin with is to reduce stress from things at school and maybe even at home, And a lot of these kids even end up wanting to do game design and stuff of that sort.
Not saying gaming addiction isn't a real thing, But i don't think anyone has died of such a thing or probably ever will. Furthermore i'd rather see people addicted to playing a game than some kind of drugs or something because they got no other way to cope with stress. It isn't like people don't usually take their minds off and into more important issues when they become of age for a job and so on, Hell Thallen has been playing for like 20 something years and i doub't his gaming has caused life threatening issues

Okay, yeah, true, drugs and all that stuff is way worse. Id say gaming addiction is similar to gambling in some cases, and in others it can seriously ruin their social and working lives. True gaming addiction is rare, but there are people out there whose minds are just full of thoughts about videogames, and not a whole lot else. Oh, and most people with a gaming addiction are adults. Kids who play videogames all day, while not ideal isnt exactly abnormal behaviour.
