I have my own 24/7 server I run though so I might not be on. Also, I have found great ways to make your Minecraft IPs shorter. You can register a .tk domain and make it something like bamcraft.tk.

.tk domains tend to get removed for copyright when they get alot of traffic. But I see what you mean. I could use dyndns.com but I won't worry about shortening the ip just yet.
