Hate crimes are punished harshly here. If you punch someone you might get a day or 2 in jail. If you punch a guy after calling him some racist **** then the punishment changes. If someone insults you it gives you the right to feel threatened and defend yourself.

It was probably due to the Boston bombing committed by russians. (Not to be offensive) Also Southern folk do have tendencies to be racist. But seriously, who would do such a mean thing like that. It really is an evil society we live in. If someone said that to me just cuz i had a little accent, i would have told security or someone of authority. People used to make fun of me cuz i had a little bit of trouble saying turtle, little etc. I don't do it anymore but it was really bad when people made fun of me for doing it. Just keep on truckin' partner! you'll be alright!

Thanks, you learn something new everyday. I thought the right of "self-defence" was only acceptable in court in a result from physical pain against you from another person (ex. attempted murder or assault).

I was down at the beach today, and in real life I have somewhat of a Russian accent, not much but some. A guy must of heard me talking to one of my friends and shouted at me, "GO BACK HOME RUSKI (If that's how you spell it), Before you and your friends blow us all up!" A couple of others also said something like this before, but I decided to ignore it and thought it was just some guy trying to make me mad. After the last one to say it to me said it, I started to ponder about it.
I'm down in the south right now, and have always lived near the north. Is the American South always like this? Is there a new stereotype for Russians? I'm very confused and just wanted to hear some opinions.

Well historically.. (From what I understand; not American, so correct me if I'm wrong) but Southern America has always been deep in the bible belt as well as being known to have been the worst parts for racism, sexism, stereotypes, etc. At least that what I've gathered over hearing about Southern 'Murrika.

the american south has a tendency to always be like that, just call them rednecks and they'll just punch you in the face a couple times and leave you alone.

That’s half true babe. The beauty about crime in America is that what happens doesn’t really matter what matters is how and why it happened.
If some dude comes up to me and says “hey wetback get your ass back to cuba spic” all I have to say is I felt threaten and acted in self defense. But I wouldn’t go as far as to beat the **** out of thim. With these massive Arnold like arms I can usually put noobs down with one swing.
