Laptop got wet. Anything I can save?

So my uncle dropped my grandma's laptop in a sink of water. As far as I know she turned it upside down to let it dry. Anything I can do to save it or any parts? Or is it all probably fried?

I guess some hardware are still alive, not sure about HDD.

Normally if your laptop was off and the hard drive was not spinning, your HDD is alive for sure because water is not harmful to it.

Which means there is a high chance that it is alive.

Put it in a massive bowl of rice, not a joke.
Not sure about laptops but I saved my ipad by doing this.

Anyway, why the **** did your uncle have your nans laptop over the sink?

I would not put it in rice. You'd get rice into all the components and just create a massive headache. I'd say google it and figure out the best answer.

I'm pretty sure it was turned on. Which means it might have fried everything as the electricity touched the water. If it happened to not be on then it might not be as bad.

Take the battery out, open it, leave it to dry.

After that just gatta get lucky I suppose xD

Whatever you do, dont put it on a massive bowl of rice.

I am sure some hardware wont work but your hard disk (which contains all your files) can still be read because water doesnt harm it.

Another thing is dont turn your laptop on.

That rice thing only works for phones and smaller electronics.

Anyways, hopefully you didn't try to turn it on or tamper with any of the components.

That would probably mess it up even more.

I let it dry. I plugged it up and the charge light came one then it went off. Nothing since
