I hate dubs because I can tell when the voice acting is bad. If they are talking in Japanese I can't tell either way so I don't care about it.

- If you cant read subtitles, youre fkn lazy and probably illiterate.
- Anime production studios really dont make a ton of money. It cost a lot of money to produce any type of TV show, and the money they make barely covers those expenses. Many anime studios only survive by selling merchandise through licensing. Others go bankrupt.
- Anime studios are under no obligation to make their own English/French/etc versions of their shows.
-That's why there's a such thing as fan dubs.

What if I wanted to listen to the characters and look at the art instead of reading every line.
- I dont know if im the only one who noticed but anime is very popular now
that does not take a genius to figure out.
Popular animes like any tv show or movie make a good profit
- Of course like any other media nobody needs to translate their stuff
It would be nice to do so though for the people and buisness-wise

Jesus christ the amount of hate for english dubs on this thread is ridiculous. For a start english dubs having been getting better for the past 6-5 years and are becoming more consistant in their quality. Will there be crap dubs every now then? Yes there will be, but those are far and few between

Still not close to the level with Japan. We have America who hire anyone that sounds good, has education and experience in the department and willing to work. Then there's Japan where competition is big and many people have crushing life being unable to get work. Many companies gets the bests to voice their anime. Just watch Sore ga Seiyuu and ShiroBako and you can see how life of voice actors in Japan is on another level comparative to America.

In my eyes dubs are catching up to subs in their consistency. You say that America will hire people that are good yet you also that Japan also hires people that are good and i have no idea what point you are trying to make here but if you are suggesting that companies such as Funimation just hire average voice actors then thats a stupid statement to make  

I personally can't stand anime

Don't get me wrong, im not against it and I can respect why people watch it (I used to watch pokemon marathons when I was younger) but now ive just gone off it for whatever reason. I might have the image of cheesy quotes and stuff from when I was younger that makes it seem embarrassing to watch anime - but I do understand that they make anime for all ages now and it's not just 'children's cartoons'
