What exactly do IVs do in GO?

The battle system is already so minimal I can't imagine something as technical as IVs being an important thing in this game.

IV's are the stats, Attack, Defence and Stamina.
15 points on all of them is a 100% perfect pokemon.
For example, a 100% pokemon could beat a pokemon of the same cp with like 20-50% health left if you're attacking a gym. Ofcourse also depends on cp and the moves).

Imagine having a pikachu of 500 cp with 15-14-13, lets say 130 hp
It would easily beat a 700cp pikachu with 5-7-15 with 150 hp

Idk how to explain it further since pokemon go IV's are pretty simplified compared to the normal games

What level are you?  

IVs should be removed from the game. It's messy.
