Wifi help?
Recently, my computer and anything using internet on my wifi has been slow. My internet on my computer works fine if i unplug my router, but then i wouldnt have any wifi. I bought a new router, but i have the same problem. So, anyone know how i could fix this problem. I dont think its my pc since it works fine not connected to my router, but it isnt my router either cause i just got a new one thats high speed and stuff.

Are you sure you don't just have a bunch of devices eating up the bandwidth?

Is your router and modem bridged? This usually fixes the speed problem.

Someone could be using your wi-fi to upload large amounts of data and/or download large amounts of data. (Video games, uploading a YouTube video, seeding torrents, etc, etc.)

Well my wifi has a password, so no random people are using it. Only devices on my wifi are a wii, two ipods, a kindle fire, and my pc. dont know if thats what you call a lot of devices, but theyve been running on my router for a lot longer than my wifi has been lagging.

Secure your connection with a password, other people could potentially be using it.

If your connection is fine when your router is unplugged then something is stealing all your bandwidth. |

Try a wired connection to your computer and disable wireless. If it still persists, call your ISP.

Guys, read whole thread before posting: He has already taken note that if he disables his wireless, his bandwith is fine. It's obvious that something is stealing the data, but now it's to find what that is. |

No. Bridging a modem is absolutely fine, especially if you have your own router, but that's not how it works. |
