The domain wasn't bought before. I looked into it and thought the domain was cool. Somehow, someone else bought it October 26 and the site has good traffic now.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that when it comes to search engine rankings and spiders, it's the content that counts: not the domain.

I would have had more visitors with that name rather than my old name which was harder to remember.

Maybe not by GoDaddy them-self but if someone has access to the domain search queries they can certainly hijack them.  

GoDaddy probably suggests searched domains that are not bought.
