hurray for europeans and what would become americans destroying a noble people who understood how the environment worked better than anyone else at that time, who were the epitome of the natural human, in a sustainable, happy, good way of life, now long gone, there isnt any real indians anymore, even on the reservations, its not the same...

and this time, we celebrate them saving pilgrims and being good to us, not realizing what would happen, and teach our children it has more to do with light brown people with bows and arrows and feathers and people in black and white with buckled hats and turkeys.

For me Thanksgiving is about spending time with family. I don't really care where it originated from, and I don't celebrate it like that (because I don't really even think it was right.)

No point in going out of your way to see the bad in everything.

PS: this is slightly off topic, but i also think the aztecs were very natural and noble and glorious for throwing people into volcanoes. i wish all people could be like that. i like volcanoes.  

TURKEY GENOCIDE!!!

I don't find the word noble appropriate for most circumstances. Aztecs didn't just throw people into volcanoes, they left neighboring territory unconquered to have wars to take prisoners, who they would capture for human sacrifice to their animistic gods. With the prisoners, they would slice open their chests and pull out a beating heart, which they would hold up to the cheering crowd who hoped to get a drop of blood land on their clothing. These "noble" people would eventually suffer from great rebellion and unrest, but the Europeans came just in time to prevent a probable series of wars. Contacts between the Old and New World is inevitable, so if the Europeans came any later there would probably be great disorder along with several more deaths from the carried diseases.

Judging by the patterns of other civilizations, the Native Americans would still develop an industrial workforce and steer away from most concerns about their religious beliefs as they discover astronomy and other scientific breakthroughs that were previously known by the Old World. It's not the Europeans' fault for the end of the Native American lifestyle, because it was just a matter of time before changes would occur.

I'm thankful for the current American culture and lifestyles.  

Thankful for being canadian so I don't have to sit here for ten minutes thinking what I should write.
