Did I **** Up My 120 GB Hard Drive?
I recently received a 120GB Xbox 360 hard drive. I was going to transfer all the data from my 60GB one to it. Unfortunately The 120GB was working fine at first. Later when I was going to transfer my 60GB to the 120GB I had my 60GB in my Xbox and 120GB connected with a transfer cable and I configured it. Now when I plug it into my Xbox it doesn't read as a hard drive, but it's still read as a USB when I use the transfer cable. Did I ruin my hard drive when I configured it? I did a lot of research and even tried formatting it, but nothing worked. Do I have to buy another one?

I'm speechless. How did you format it? You might have accidentally removed the OS is you've plugged it in to your computer and formatted it that way.

Someone I saw called it "bricking" your hard drive when you do what I did. I think I'm pretty much screwed. I can't find a solution anywhere and the tutorials for transferring the data threw me off. |

Did you follow directions on how to transfer data between two 360 HDD's? I imagine there are tons online. Try hooking it up to your 360 and seeing if the 360 has an option to format the HDD. Usually devices like 360's, phones and such that format will properly format it and give it any necessary files for successful use with the device. I can't imagine you ever needing to hook up to a PC for this process, but admittedly I haven't looked it up at all. Why couldn't you just hook it up via USB to the 360 and transfer the data and then just install it? |

This details how to properly format the HDD in a way that the 360 will recognize, but with a PC(since your 360 isn't recognizing it): http://www.wikihow.com/Format-a-Hard...-With-Xbox-360 This explains how to format it while hooked up to the 360, but isn't applicable right now: http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-3...sories/storage This link will tell you how to transfer data with the transfer kit: http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-3...transfer-cable |
