Anyways, aren't you like 23 and still live with your parents? I don't think anyone minds you wearing a bear hat. |

Also, it's not people who think it's a "bear hat" that would mind; it's the people who may know what the bear is. Things like memes are such are starting to break through to the general public, so it's not like only 4chan users, redditors and such would recognize it these days. |

Anyone who knows about memes probably (hopefully) knows that they are jokes

Sadly that's not true. Memes are leaking into a wider audience, but that wider audience also means a lot of people never got the true meaning or such. People who browse reddit will know way more about pedobear than some mother who happened to read a news article about how *********s are infiltrating communities by appealing to children with a bear(yes there have been news articles written like this). I'm not saying it's bad for a person to wear it in public, but people should understand why someone wouldn't O.o |

Maybe he's talking about NYN...if I saw a grown man wearing this hat I'd laugh. Everyone can make their own judgements though, naming someone as a ********* or supporter of pedophelia is a pretty large leap just for wearing a hat.
I think you're over exaggerating a bit. I agreed that it would be inapropriate for sale on iClassic or iEra but extending that to real life is just overbearing... |

And no, I'm not exaggerating. It's quite obvious that memes are breaking out from being an "in-joke" and becoming mainstream. It's not uncommon to see them being printed on shirts, and even advertisement(Comedy Central now adapts all the Futurama memes into their advertising). Hell, success kid was used on billboard advertisements for a while. And what you said is exactly what I was saying... they're being adopted into mainstream culture but for the Average Joe that encounters it doesn't know what it really means because it's been butchered by marketing and such at that point. |
