"Exact rip" ... sure. Castles surrounded by waters are not an original concept http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moat I mean I'm not trying to argue to defend Graal or something, I've openly stated the similarities/history of Graal many times. Just this instance makes no sense to me and it's pretty much grasping at very short straws. Especially if you've played both Classic and LttP(which I have played plenty of both), the differences become really obvious. Zelda is a well-thought out and compressed world where everything is where it is for a specific reason. Graal is an overworld where **** is where it is because some player in 1999 submitted it and it got approved. |

Graal classic IS a Zelda clone, hands down. Way back in the late 90s Stefan made a flash game (among others for a game website he was a part of) called "Zelda Online." It was literally a basic clone of Zelda 3, minus most of aLTTP's "features." Basically it was the world of Zelda 3 minus quests and other weapons but online (funny how Graal classic currently reverted to something quite similar.) The map was the same as Zelda 3 and so were the sprites. Of course Nintendo sent him a C&D so, things were changed to what we now call Graal. So of course there are similarities, and in the old days there were still a loooottt of leftover sprites from zelda and other games. That's not really a bad thing. Zelda 3 is a legendary game. There's nothing wrong from taking inspiration from great games, most (if not practically all) good games have taken inspiration from past games. Graal is an online Zelda 3 inspired game, and I personally think that's great. You can probably still find the old Zelda rip level files. They were in .zelda format even (which load up fine in the later versions of graal that use .graal files. I don't know if the pc version still uses them and has offline play since I haven't touched it in around a decade.) Actually, I'm pretty sure I have them lying around on a cd-r somewhere. If not a copy of zelda online itself. |

I don't think they ripped it, but just copied the design. They do look very similar.
