People have been debating about the bible's legitimacy for hundreds of years, if someone found a legitimate argument to throw at Christians then it would be widely used by now. Thing is, there probably is. I could go on and on about the nature of god radically being inconsistent and such, but I have realized when debating about any book, if you try hard enough you can make it appear to make sense to yourself as long as you don't take it at face value. Especially when a single collection of stories holds so much importance to a group of people, like the bible. Just look how some English majors treat Shakespeare. |

I stand with Russia on this debate, because morally i think that same sex marriage is wrong. Also i am starting to hate some of the people that support these gay people, because they go as far as to take a couple of verses out of the Bible that are against gays just to make these homosexuals feel happy. Damn them, they're still going to hell. http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories...MPLATE=DEFAULT |

I also don't believe any sexual relationships with parents and children are outlined in the bible. Another thing you have to consider is that this "unknown entity" is somebody who the people had faith in and trusted. It's not the same as if some random hobo tried to tell them not to screw each other like you're trying to make it out.

And the fact that the earth was indeed not flat was not included in the apple of eden's knowledge eh?

I think the tree of knowledge was a symbol of wisdom. The ability to gather information and gain perspective. The earth looks flat to me. Is it? No.

I'll state it again, you don't have a right to say this when what you think of as an 'opinion' ends up forcing others to change their livelihood. Its not even opinion, its a hate crime. All of you that don't support same sex marriage because the bible condemns it are just, incomprehensibly prejudice. Sure, you can say that they shouldn't have marriage in a church as that has at least a slim line of logic, but to rule out legal marriage altogether? A concept that predates Christianity? Ludicrous. Today's society is not any better than all the racists and crooks that were around in the 1950's, telling black people how to live their lives and where to eat. At least I can take comfort that you are a delusional twat that takes in ideas to soften the fear of death (hence your demeaning threat that I'm going to hell), every time assholes tell me I'm going to hell just because I don't believe in your book makes me so much more happy and comfortable knowing I'm not as ignorant and sheepish as them. It always reminds me that I can think for myself and make my own decisions and value my life scientifically, which is what is important in society. Not telling others how to live. Exactly what you are advocating. So I appreciate you reminding me what I stand for in life. Thanks! (P.S. I don't hate religious people I just hate people that actually think others are going to hell because they don't believe what they believe, and people that think they can tell others how to live their life just to be in line with their precious books) |

I don't mind it, I just ignore it. It's not my problem. Yes its ignorant, but I don't feel like getting involved in an argument that will never have a winner.

No one can convince me that I'm an ass because I'm not an ass, I am simply stating why I think gays should not be aloud to marry. I'm fine with them kissing and doing what ever else the hell they do (except adopting because that's also wrong). I honestly cannot beilive how quickly this thread turn into a ****fest. It's stupid how I cannot express my views without getting told that I'm an idiot from people like imprint and Pimpsy.
