Minecraft for Xbox any good?

My friend wants to play Minecraft on Xbox Live but I don't know if I should buy it.
Obviously it doesn't have everything the PC version has but is it still just as fun?

A lot of the reviews I have read are based on the original release that was from June of last year.
Have the updates brought the 360 version up to par with PC or what?

Not to par at all, there's still no mods, no infinitely explorable worlds, no built in way to share user generated content (texture packs, adventure maps, etc.), no plugins for servers, and no easy way to post screenshots online.

But if you like playing splitscreen with friends at your house, then its a must buy simply for that reason. Playing minecraft on the couch with friends is almost as fun as super smash bros tournaments. If you plan on mainly playing online over xbox live on servers though I would not recommend it. The PC version is much better with playing online. And you don't have to use Microsoft's crappy online service.

It's also a little behind PC. I have it and play with friends online and it's really good for that

Weird, I've played since first version of alpha and to this day it's still fun.

Obviously for the people who love the PC Minecraft, this will not appeal to them much. I like it because the graphics are great, simple to use, create a server with a click of a button, character skin pack downloads, online play, etc. The splitscreen only works with and HDMI cable I think. No, there are no mods, texture packs, or anything like that. I still enjoy it very much. I think it's worth it if you have some friends to build things with.

The xbox version is only worth it if you have other people to play with. It has most of the basic stuff that makes PC fun, but it still doesn't have everything. Joining worlds with your friends is way easier then setting up a whole PC server.

Im pretty sure they might be adding texture packs and mods here soon but i cannot be sure! I hope they do though as my laptop cant handle minecraft too well...

It's fun,you can make worlds and invite friends with a click of a button,very simple,almost the same as PC. It's great.
