PK Scoring
Many sparrers tend to say that PK isn't a legit stat. This is because the sport is abused and only has a one-dimensional stat. Kills only go up and it's easy to make that number go up by boosting or sword spamming. It is also true that PKing doesn't have a strict skill requirement because of said boosters and spammers. My idea is to make the PK scoring system identical to spar scoring system: Player profile shows both kills and deaths; Also similar to sparring, you are graded with a score (similar to the spar score that is on spar boards): -A kill increases score. -A death decreases score. -Killing a player with more points increases score more than killing a player with fewer points. -Getting killed by a player with fewer points decreases score more than getting killed by a person with more points. -Not killing or dying for a week results in erased score, similar to spar. -(I'm pretty sure that's^ how spar scoring works anyway) -Suicide, dying from a bomb, and dying from Sardon's spikes decreases score. -Getting killed by a Baddy does not affect score (that way it is possible to do Pyrat Quest without destroying record). This score will replace the current PK scoreboards and there will be only one scoreboard for PKs showing this score (but I do not think it is necessary to separate PC vs iDevice boards). This way I believe boosters and sword spammers will not make it on scoreboard (sword spamming in a crowd, you are likely to die the same number of times as the kills you are getting, thus not increasing score) (or I suppose they could occasionally be boosters on scoreboard just like sometimes you see boosters on spar boards). In a way, you are sorta graded on streaks, but it is continuous. I think of PKing as similar to a 1 vs all guild spar; however PKing is continuous while spar is discreet. This way, I think PKs would be a more presentable stat. Questions? Comments? Cares? Concerns? Fits of Rage? WTH am I smoking? Absolutely nothing. |

It is quite difficult to rate how much of an accomplishment a death or kill is through PKing. You are going to die, and the person that removed the majority of your health is not guaranteed to be the person who gets the kill. This makes it very unstable as a measurement.

Yes I understand it would be difficult to calculate, that's what I meant by "PKing is continuous." In spar, you always restart with 3.0.
I am asking for the SYSTEM to be identical to spar; the actual SCALE / numerical values for PK rating does not have to be exactly as Spar rating scale. For example, a good sparrer has a 7000-8000+ rating, but maybe on the PK scale, "good" is 3000, or 700. More pks per death = better rating; less pks per death = bad rating. Just pick a scale and stick to it.

Just spar if you want this. There is no way to measure how "good" a PKer is because it's all speculative and there are too many variables. People would be PKing a lot more timidly and playing towards a score if this happened anyway, it'd probably change PKing for the worse.

Anyone who enjoys keeping towers would have a terrible ratio. Plus bomb+spamming for cheap kills would become an issue. And I already have way more deaths than kills :p |

deadmouse guild would have most of the top spots if this was used back in the day. I agree with adding deaths to the profile.

Seems anti-fun to me. Going to encourage people to scurry off and run away when at 0.5 hearts, can essentially become pay to win by buying mass amounts of arrows. Players can also suicide to bombs/spikes multiple times, then go around and start tanking other players' scores.

DO NOT ADD OUR DEATHS TO OUR PROFILES. If deaths are added to our profiles, pking will become way too serious and people will try too hard. |

Rezon: if you would actually read, I included that suicide would decrease rating. There's no way around decreasing rating when you die. Thallen: People who would PK timidly are just p*ssy. I wouldn't be afraid of my rating. Im not even expecting myself to be high on that board. Im sure there are several people who would have better rating. Meteor: "People trying" is supposed to happen. |

The thing is that the staff members that have the power to change this don’t care about pkng so they aint going to spend their time improving pk. Most of them are sparer’s and think spar is more important than pk because in their head they believe it requires skill compare to pk where all a noob has to do is sword spam to pk which is true to a certain extent. If you ask me it seems like they have a vendetta against pk since all they seem to do is mess pk up.
If I was to ever meet you irl I would catch a case buu buu Note:allowing healing would also make this idea more fun (well at least for me) |
