IMO cycles gives more realistic results but it also takes more time to render

Seems like you're missing something here, and not smoothing your meshes. I haven't done 3D in a while, but in 3ds max this could be toggled in the material you used, or alternatively used smoothing transformation. The latter however leaves you with little control over what it will do with your model.

Ah well ya. The first one has some ambient occlusion going on. It's pretty intensive because it tries to emulate the way light works in real life. The second one just does some raycast to cast a shadow. The ambient occlusion however tries to emulate the way light bounces off walls and such which is why it takes so much longer. It's probably doing some other things like reflection/refraction. Give that monkey a semi-transparent/glass material and make the floor reflection and watch how long it takes

Typically it's not the render engine itself, but what you specify/allow the engine to do. The two engines probably just have different default options. Then again like I said I have no experience with Blender so maybe this is its way of allowing you to customize the render output.  

Why not use Pixar's modeling program? Wow.

Here is the glass monkey with a teapot (i lost the previous file ), it took 55 seconds to render…
And I also started making a christmas tree but had to stop because of hardware limitations.. ( that tree had 900000 needles…).

3D is just a hobby for me.. Blender is the only free 3D program that I found… And it works as good as 3ds max or Maya
What program does Pixar use?  

Wow! These are amazing, you could pursue this hobby and take movie/tv show/game development courses.  

Makes me want to try.

It's really fun to draw in a 3D environment and when you see your finished result, you feel so good
