SOPA
Hey folks. For those of you in the U.S., this is hitting Congress this Thursday. Check it out, and get your voice out there. Learn about it here. In a nutshell, this bill, called Protect IP, will allow the government and big companies to censor what we see on the Intertubes. Any type of copyrighted or infringement of any kind could result in being sued. This involves hearing a song in the background of a Youtube video, posting lyrics to a song (even if you don't know that song, or aren't quoting it) on your Facebook/Myspace/Google+, those sites would be taken down and you'd get a nice lawsuit on your hands. Very uncool of America. I'm not trying to speak Propaganda to you all, but when our government starts censoring what we can and can't do, see, or speak, then they are infringing upon our rights at a citizen. We all have those inalienable rights - no matter what age. Don't think you're too young to be heard. |

if this is passed im going to learn how to hack and join anonymous, and i hope alot more people do too, ive started protests in a game, if those damn lobbyists succede im starting a protest in real life. if the police actually cared about citizens they would lay down there arms and join us, not beat us away. this is why I wish we had some way to quickly take out corrupt government officials. yet all they leave us is elections that arent frequent enough to stop them, or violence. the constitution says we are giving our power to the government, and if it does not protect the rights of the people, we may rise up and fix it. this is why i support the occupy protests, and know that sadly our best hope could be a nutjob with a gun getting into a government building. lobbyests are making it so public opinion is ignored. once again a example of why people in power and greed dont mix very well, the turnout is usually bad for the civilians.....I wonder why this all sounds so familiar. |

If you don't want it to pass, then participate. Call your Congressman/woman - or email them. Get your voice heard and known so we can show the idiots on the hill that this is one stupid bill.

This is very important, because its not about the, "free and open" aspect of the internet. That will still largley remain in tact after this. It is about the fact that the internet is a massive factory for piracy and scandals, full of torrents and illegal sites that protrude and damage companies such as Adobe and many others. People really need to remember that this bill first forces companies to submit their claims to the supreme court just like any other scam or fraud, and the government cannot just step in by themselves. If anything, I am all for SOPA, because no sane person can openly say that the internet is anywhere near legal. |

The sad thing is that it was rushed through the House of Representatives. This Bill is too broad to be passed, and it says that ONE copyright infragment could land you in Federal Prison. |
