Miss Representation - The Representation Project
Recently I stumbled across a video on YouTube by The Representation Project campaigning How the Media Failed Women in 2013. Some of the content was surprising, with Damon Bruce commenting "Sport has lost it's way because women are giving directions", and that women in the US should pay more health insurance due to their breasts and ovaries. I showed my sister the video and asked for her opinion and she said "Sexism has been around for a long time, women have only just been allowed to vote so we shouldn't complain". I have a completely different approach, I am against sexism and hope to be a part of changing this view one day. As many of you on these forums are men, your view may be different to mine; What are your opinions on the matter? |

How old is your sister? She sounds horribly misinformed, which is something that arises with a lot of equality issues, where the disadvantaged side doesn't realise or doesn't care that they're disadvantaged and it hurts the cause of people trying to make change (in this case, feminists). The stuff showed in the video was really disgusting, but one influential woman not mentioned (I might have missed it) is Wendy Davis, a Texas state senator who stood up for women's rights with a filibuster to stop new abortion regulations. She was fighting against the people displayed in this video: rich, uninformed white (republican) men. The fact that we still have these things happen shows that women still have a long way to come in terms of equality. |

Check your privilege. Seriously though men need more rights in case of a divorce. There was this article about a dad whose access to his own daughter was reduced because he told her her weight increase has been worrying him and it turned out the mother had been giving her something and he still wasn't granted access If I find the article I'll edit it in. |

Ssh sweet heart dont you worry your pretty little head about it But seriously now if a man cannot look past there urge of adoring the visuals of the oposite gender then they no longer serve the right to be called a man as they are a disfunction of a human |
