My thoughts on the current events system
Events to me where a warm welcome to graal, from the very first hide and seek and trivia events to the current vast range of events hosted on classic today they have added variety and encouraged competition in the community. However I have noticed a not so recent change to how you can partake in these events is bogging this down and that is the system implemented to queue into the events. When events where first released staff members would allow players to join them by finding a door hidden around the map using a given hint with only a certain number of players being allowed to join, this meant anyone could get into an event at some point if they just kept trying and kept playing the game to better understand these hints given. Now lets look at the current system, a simple sign up that gives players a chance to get in. The issue with this is can easily be spotted, on a server with now over 3000+ players at a time your chances of ever getting into an event are very small and are more based upon sheer luck than learning the game and using practical skill gained while playing to get into these events. The obvious answer to this dilemma is to return to the old system which is sadly slowly being phased out, which would you prefer in graal, the old system which encouraged participation and learning of areas around the game or the new system which is at its core sheer luck in a ever growing community of players. |

The old system had to be phased out because it resulted in significant crowds of people flocking to a single location which brings the server to it's knees. If 1000 people want to get in an event and know the 'hint' then this results in bad times for everyone because not only will it be a fight to get in, it will lag the server to hell in the process. Should also note while there may be 3000 people on not all of them are paying attention or want to participate, if the event only allow 50 people in and a 1000 people queue for the event you still have a 5% chance of getting in. |

Just out of curiousity then, did you guys ever think about implementing a multiple warpers system where staff set up for example, 5 warpers around the map rather then 1 that lead to the same event? Maybe even 10 warpers? Or would that still cause hell on the server.

The only problem in door warps is that the hint is very hard unless you already know the whole map of classic. But too bad for the amateurs.

Why can't the same admin give hints to multiple places all leading to the certain event. Maybe an admin could have 5 screens on the admins computer and have their character in multiple places for hide and seek.

The multiple warpers were utter chaos. I hope that is never brought back. FP4, could you explain the ideology to how it wigs out, the server handles "X" amount already. Is it the sudden change of location? |

I haven't been in an event for over a month and honestly I often get frustrated. Your chances of getting in an event are 1/3000, and if you do happen to get into an event, your chances of winning are usually 1/50. So basically your chances at winning an event are very small these days. And even if not all players online click the "Join queue" button, at least 1,000 will, and 1/1000 is still pretty small. But the admins can't add any warps when there are over 2,000 people online. Another thing that sucks is that hide and seek used to use warpers, so now the original event back in the days is pretty much never played anymore. |

Hmm why dont they just have multiple rooms or have that most of the players will be sent to a waiting room to wait untill they get to join the event (you know like 50 per round of *insert event here*) and will be warped to the event area

Graal just does not handle 50+ active (non-idle) people in the same level that well which results in FPS drop for the clients and sometimes server lag depending how bad it is. |

if you want competition go pk, spar, or tower. Personally i dont care about the "lag" the old event system had, I dont see it as a problem. I prefer the new system because it gives everyone an equal chance of joining. Not everybody wants to no-life the server and learned every building on the map.
