Was it from a Bisharp, Crawdaunt, Conkeldurr or Scizor? They have ridiculously strong Knock Offs, and it hits 97.5 base power if holding an item before STAB, so even the tankiest of walls have trouble dealing with it. Bisharp's Knock Off gets about 143~ BP with STAB, and when coming off his strong 125 base attack and usually Life Orb, it hurts. Rotom-W isn't a wall per say, but a bulky support. Since Knock Off is from physical attackers, just throw a Will-O-Wisp on them and they'll be crippled for the rest of the game.

Yeah, every time a physical attacker that's not Fire comes on the field, Will-O-Wisp them. Cuts their physical damage in half unless they have Guts. Pretty brutal.

I saw how popular Apricorn Ball Pokemon were becoming on this trade forum site I always use so I began to collect them. Finally mustered up about 7 of them. Today this guy was asking for 5-6IV KB Pokemon and Apricorn Ball Pokemon. So when I listed all mine he asked for all of them and I traded each one for a Shiny Kalos Bred Competitive Pokemon: Sylveon, Staraptor, Guardevoir, Politoed, Ninetales, Cloyster, and Azumarill. And earlier today I got a competitive Sneasel which I EV trained and evolved into Weavile and a Shiny Competitive Sableye (except it's Bold nature). I'm having a good trading day today.

Bold is fine too, 252 HP / 252 Def is really strong if you want it purely for destroying physical attackers, which is what I use now. Also, I'm pleasantly surprised by SubSD Virizion. Not too many people expect it, and its CC hits harder than Breloom's Mach Punch IIRC. If you haven't played Showdown's AAA ladder, you need to do it now. You can give any Pokemon (bar Ubers) any ability in the game, except ridiculously overpowered ones not meant to be on other Pokemon like Wonder Guard, Speed Boost, Pure Power, etc. A lot of Pokemon that were once considered suboptimal are now ridiculously strong. Giving Noivern Aerilate makes Boomburst a 273 BP move after STAB which pretty much defines the metagame right now. Dragonite with CB gets an Aerilate-boosted STAB ExtremeSpeed, Victini and Kyurem can both trash their relatively weak abilities for the weather they both thrive in. It's such a fun game.

Scarf Staraptor is for chumps. Band is where it's at. Fast Brave Birds go to Talonflame, that's why they work so well together. Staraptor's just there for power.

EDIT: Also, what does Drizzle do again exactly? Remove Fire type weaknesses on Pokemon and increase Water Attacks base power? |

Drizzle summons rain on switch for 5 turns, 8 with Damp Rock. The most relevant things it does is activate Swift Swim (doubles speed on Pokemon with the ability, makes for deadly sweepers in Kingdra and Kabutops), increases BP of Water moves by 50%, decreases Fire moves by 50%, activates Dry Skin (heals 1/8 HP under Rain, easy setup for Toxicroak), activates Hydration (removes status at end of turn, Rest is now OP), Thunder and Hurricane are boosted to 100% accuracy. Unless you're building a team around Drizzle/Rain Dance, I wouldn't suggest using them. Politoed is really weak individually, and the rule of thumb for making rain teams is to have at least 3 Rain setters which limits teambuilding. But, if you're really skilled with Rain, it's by far the deadliest weather and can tear apart unprepared teams. As for the Dragonite, I would personally try to get an Adamant Dragonite with DD/Dragon Claw/ESpeed/EQ. Jolly Dragonite isn't very optimal, since it's base speed is already low enough to the point where it doesn't miss out on any important speed ties. Run a Weakness Policy set, whenever you're hit super effectively (which is no problem to tank thanks to Multiscale), you get +2 Atk and +2 SpA. If you DD on that turn, you're at +3 Atk and +1 Spe. If there aren't any counters left on the field, it's pretty much GG. Dragon Claw over Outrage because Fairies, Steels, and surprise Talonflames and Bisharps that need to be outsped by ESpeed. And if you want Dragonite to really shine, consider Rapid Spin or Defog support. Stealth Rock is a bitch. |

Excadrill is one of the better offensive spinners. Scizor is good too, but I find that he gives up too much for Defog. He really needs Swords Dance to be close to a relevant offensive threat + BPunch and Knock Off. Defog works in the last slot, but Roost is immensely helpful since he can't run Leftovers. Mandibuzz is one of the best Defoggers around since it's ridiculously tanky and can hit offensive mons hard with Foul Play. The Lati@s twins have fast Defogs and are solid offensive threats on their own, and also ignore Spikes. Forretress can lay hazards and spin away, and is one of the best hazard controllers in the game. Starmie's got a fast Rapid Spin and is decent offensively too. Talonflame can Defog, but... yeah Overall, I'd recommend Air Balloon/Lefties Excadrill for a bulky offensive spinner, defensive M.Scizor or Mandibuzz for defensive Defoggers, and the three Psychics I mentioned for fast offensive spinners. Excadrill is the only to get a resist to SR, though. |
