Its probably still popular (not as before), but its more privately, ie, guild only farming.

Then you must not understand how good "80% farms" worked. The guild house owner would put a wall behind you so no one can come in your "lane" and steal. There would be a chair in front of you (horses can walk over chairs) as a guide. Then the furthest row of grass is blocked off by a wall so the owner keeps 20% of what you farmed (o man the days before gralat lock existed).

Thanks! SO does it mean that Grotto is much more effective than farming in GH? Because I need alot of gralats but I do not have 2000 hours.

I remember these days and plenty of times when I did this either someone would log in "randomly" in my lane of gralats, everyone farming would be kicked by the owner, or some hacker would enter and immediately fly over all the gralats like an admin (true story, multiple times).

Personally I think grotto is more effective because it has a bigger space to farm which makes it quicker and you don't have to pay 2.99 just for a GH that you would only really use for farming.
