There was an abundance of equipment and weapons you could assign, to the point where you simply could not grab it all on your first play-through. Not all of the characters were shallow. MOST of the characters were not very developed and inserted just to add on to side quests, customizability, and the "gotta catch em all" attitude for hardcore gamers. Glenn, Serge, Kid, Lynx, Harle, Karsh, Radius, and a few other characters actually had amazing backstories and they unfolded during the course of the story- (if you kept them in your party, you would actually initiate many hidden conversations and mini-battles that otherwise you would had just skipped). Spoiler
And what do you mean about "random fights" the fights in Chrono Cross were almost entirely optional, besides boss fights. |

And no, the normal enemies walk around on screen, so an experienced player can move around them and avoid them with ease. Some of them will give chase or will be blocking a path though- so there is that. I loved Cross and I loved Trigger. If you quit after only a couple of hours, I highly recommend you try again. It is a great game and the hidden ties and sidestories you can find that tie up lose ends with Chrono Trigger are very sentimental. There is an orphanage scene that deals with lucca and it is just the saddest thing in the world |

Personally I don't really have a top ten. Instead I'll just list a game or series for 10 individual genres that I enjoyed more than most others that I can remember. Beat 'em up - Super Battletoads (Arcade) Fighting - Killer Instinct (SNES/Arcade/GB/Xbone) Note: Included with Killer Instinct 2013 Ultra Edition on Xbone. Platformer - Conker's Bad Fur Day (N64) ARPG - System Shock series (DOS/PC/OSX/Linux) First-person shooter - Doom II (DOS & many others) Graphic adventure - Grim Fandango (PC) Turn-based Strategy - Civilization II (Mac/PS1/PC) Racing - F-Zero X (N64) Shoot 'em up - Contra III: The Alien Wars (SNES/GBC/GBA) City-building - Simcity 3000 (Mac/iOS/PC/Linix/Mobile) I was thinking about including honorable mentions but the list I had in mind felt a bit expansive for a forum post so I decided against it. |

Final fantasy 9 is one of the best series/game ever! Yes, so is FF7 but I like to stick to FF9.

Instead of hopping around time, you are in one similar place in time, hopping between a real dimension in where serge died 10 years ago and one in which nothing at all has happened. It causes major rifts and you manage to recruit people from both dimensions, it is really cool how it plays out and how different things play out just because in one dimension the protagonist is believed to be dead. It isn't supposed to play just like chrono trigger, in gameplay or story, but it does envelope itself in the same overall universe quite well. Damn I love both of these games so much. I'm glad you said you'll give it a chance the pacing really gets awesome once your party starts going after lynx.

Space Invaders - My high score is 998,000 on an arcade machine on the 3 hour fairy in Nova Scotia, it pained me and a lot of other passengers that I was 2,000 short of a million. Loz:LTTP - Pretty self explanatory to a lot of people in this community. Graal - Ever since 2011 this has been a nice pass of time. Wow/Runescape - Both fall under the same categories (MMORPGs) really no lifed both a lot. Final Fantasy Series- Love them all equally. Donkey Kong - My favorite game to play when I am looking for a challenge. Pac-Man - One of the best arcade games of all time and it's fun trying to set a high score. |
