Dither Shading in general (Question)
I've seen many people use dither shading (Like xertic. His gfx is quite amazing. Heres an example) ![]() and this is when i tried to do it for the very first time http://img805.imageshack.us/img805/9612/robot7.png (Unsupported image host) Im trying to learn this dither shading because it may help me sometime in the future of my spriting.. So how does this dither shading work actually? What is it best used on? (Humans? objects? etc.) What should i not use it on? how should i shade it exactly? any tips also regarding dither shading are really useful.. Please help me guys.. I want to try this shading technique out.. |

Dithering is best reserved to large surfaced objects with no seams (to provide texture, variation or to just make it not look like plastic). If its a small surface and its meant to be smooth, don't use dithering for the shading. |
