I think he's thinking more in terms of dynamically generated mazes, and it's an elementary enough thing that there are plenty of programming examples on the web of doing so.

There's more viable alternatives. The best games are the most simple. Think of things like flappy bird and 2048, very simple concepts and endless gameplay. If classic implemented a bomy version of minesweeper as a way of earning money for example, you all of a sudden get a heap of gameplay from comparably little development cost.
