I think the DBS needs a buff. It is a shotgun, but old west seems to have made it to be used for a cheap long range weapon.

Shotguns should not be designed to be better at shooting long distances.. wtf? The dbs should have more bullets per shot, less damage, more spread, and more freeze. It takes forever to kill someone up close with this gun, and its a friggin shotty

I think all shotguns should be stacked as well. Just my opinion.  

don't play old west (did on release only 25 hrs clocked tho lol) and by the sounds of things you've givin a shotgun a good range, make the damage reduced at longer ranges with a higher more inaccurate spread, the closer the person is to the other the player the more damage it should do.

I think all shotguns should be stacked as well. Just my opinion.

All shotguns should be close range but farther then meles and should shoot lots of low msg bullets that stack and spread a ton so you have to be really close to get all the bullets to count.  

That suggestion reminds me of Plasma Shotgun of Zone has.

Really? How so? Because plasma shotty reminds me of the SD Cannon from Era PC more than anything.

No. Shotguns do not need to have their bullets disapear at a certain range. That is less than optimal.

They simply need to be shot with a wide spread, a large amount of bullets (I do not know if this is a big deal with lag.( I am thinking 5 minimum, but I would like to see 7-15 small pellets shot) and low damage. Damage drop-off really is not necessary. The fact that the pellets will spread and they already deal individual low damage will mean that they the farther away the enemy is the harder it will be to deal significant damage.

However, up close when many pellets hit, it can deal a lot of damage. If all pellets can hit, it should be close to I say 36-40 damage. If there was 12 pellets per shot, each pellet should deal 3 damage.

Actually as of now I am just describing how shotguns should be modeled in general. The way shotguns could vary from each other is
1: Number of pellets.
2: Damage per pellet.
3: Spread (some should spread more than others- spread is a benefit and a curse)
4: Freeze (More damage and pellet #= Longer freeze)
5: Reload and magazine size.

Id say the DBS should have 8 pellets per shot, 3-4 damage per pellet. Close to moderate spread, long freeze, fast reload, and of course the 2 magazine size.

Here is the problem with this. If you make a shotgun that is able to do even 30 damage if all the pellets connect, that becomes waaaay op. In terms of sparring that would mean all you have to do is rush your opponent and throw in 2 shots to kill them. that is wrong. shotguns current advantage over other guns is their spread. You don't have to stand in front of somebody to hit them. Almost all the other guns at the moment have high accuracy. If you remember back in the golden days of the pbp shotgun in era literally everybody used it because it was so op for everything. It basically became a game about spamming your shotgun down halls. Now, if we could set how far a bullet travels and or the damage over distance there would be options to modify them that would keep them in balance with other guns. Currently with shotguns even tho you lose accuracy over distance that can easily become an advantage even if your bullets don't stack damage. You have to realize gun balancing is quite delicate.

Balancing is delicate, the damage numerals I had mentioned were just an example. More bullets and spread, less damage. Shotguns are not shotguns at all right now.  

If a shotgun was to do 20+ damage a short range would indeed be needed.

Each individual pellet is not going to deal lethal or even critical damage, however can still hit and harass a target- But up close all the pellets together will pack a damaging punch.
