I think I'm safe in assuming we're all pretty tired of the GST hats that have been awarded for the past few years. I would hope that if the admins in charge of approving these hats knew how dissatisfied the players that are consistently joining/winning these tournaments are with the quality of the hats, they would stop and immediately do something different.

Crowns are boring.

Helmets are lame.

If I wanted a helmet that covered my entire custom head that I paid for, I would have just made a really cool helmet head.

i really agree.
Re-using the same hat ideas over and over again is not really rewarding for the players. many many many players dislike majority of the gst hats every season, from what I know.
It may be easier to make a big Helmet which covers like 75% of your head, even an expensive custom head sometimes.
But Admins have a lot of time to prepare the GSt hats and get more creative again! 3 Months should be enough and it´d be possible starting it out as a side project at first.
I would personally rather have a unique, cute and original hat as option, if I was a GST Winner, than an overworked concept of tiring designs.
It´s kinda sad to see too, talented artists creating mainly boring stuff.

Not true, look at hats like Xzenix 1k. It literally covers the entire head. It's basically a head, not even a hat. Plus, wasn't that a recolor of one of the milestone spar hats which was released by server staff themselves?

Anyway, if staff ever are actually looking for feedback or suggestions on GST hats, ask the people who actually have a chance at winning them. If I was in the 99% without a chance of winning, I'd probably suggest something extremely ugly.

And how would they determine the people who have chances of winning? Everyone has an equal chance to win the GST, not 1%.

What's your explanation for guilds like US, Alumni, Mother, WAR, and other guilds consistently doing well or winning GSTs? Luck?

Ask active people who have won a buttload of GSTs like Dante, Fro, Winter, David, Kouji, Cookie, Eko, and so on for suggestions regarding GST hats, since there's a high likelihood that their opinion will be honest due to the simple fact that there's a good chance for them to win one. There's really no logical argument against that...

Just because the same people win a lot doesn't mean new people can't lol.

I don't get why only the opinions of a select few should matter? Anyone can still win, so anyone should be able to decide what they would like the hat to look like. Not many people are going to intentionally want a ****ty hat because they won't win.

The point is that people who consistently win/join should have more of a say in it since they are more likely to win the hat they're competing for. It's naive to say everyone has an equal chance of winning when that hasn't ever been the case.

That's like saying tower people should have more say in regards to towering than everybody else or bug collectors should have more say in bug collecting issues.

Everyone's input is equal and should be that way as it will bring balance. How do you know all those players that don't have a chance only do the GST because they love those style of hats? Think about it from the idevice tournament where it actually has competition and the championship is always up for grabs.

They can always have categories like the xmas present. By size or by style.

Where's all the classic graphics heroes? You mean to tell me none of you have the cajones to come tell people to join the graphics team and do it themselves? Weird how that works.

Not really catching the sarcasm here, multiple sparrers have offered to make hats and suggested things like user-submitted hats, the graphics team doesn't need to 'tell them' because some of them have already stated they are willing to do it.

Well they should, it only makes sense. Also GST takes more skill than all of those so wouldn't really compare the two because towering and bug catching is open to a larger base than obtaining GST hats is.
