As long as people like this keep treating delay as some god-mode option for Graal, there are going to be flame wars about it. I think the community as a whole is finally starting to drift away from this belief, and it was shown in the last GST. Everyone was predicting a lot of the teams comprised of mostly foreign or laggy players to win, but these teams were all knocked out much earlier than expected. As the community learns to spar vs. delay, I would hope that people wouldn't continue to be so ignorant as to consider it some huge advantage. |

I'm saying it's annoying that people have to stray from their own fighting style. |

Delay is caused by having a consistently high ping. The only way that should be achievable is if you live a far distance from the server. This is why Australian players, for example, will always delay as long as the Graal server is in Texas. The only other way to achieve a consistent high ping is by consistently stressing your download/upload or using a VPN/proxy hosted in another country that will essentially mimic a less stable version of the connection quality you can expect from that country. I always tell people that they should read about communication with satellites in space if they don't understand why overseas players delay on Graal. There are limitations on how fast we can send and receive information over the internet.

VPN is a different story, but if it can't be helped, I don't really mind too much either way. |

The delay I'm talking about is when someone is moving around fine and not jumping, but when you hit them it doesn't register but when they hit you it does.

Delay works like this. Delayer POV: Hits to where you are going Your POV: Hits you directly while being close to you, but delayer is gone from that area. Delayer POV: You swing directly at them while being close to them Your POV: You swung where delayer was going and the registered a few seconds after. So basically you both have to swing early to beat each other. There is no advantage with delay, matches take forever, and is boring. I would say delayers only have an advantage against people who don't know about their delay before the match, and when their opponent is someone who doesn't know how to fight against delay. Oops, forgot. Yes, Delayers do have high ping. Generally they can range from 50-500 ms higher than you, depending on what time it is on the server. Anything above that, and it's just pure lag and warp spars. |

you can have a 56k connection and live in Texas and ping 30 to the server or you can have Google Fiber in Australia and ping 200 http://royal.pingdom.com/2007/06/01/...limit-of-ping/ |

You can always try to drop your ping by searching for different kind of ISP in your area, but if you live in a different country other than america and try to ping to america, you will always have a high latency The best thing you can do as of this moment is to get toonslab to build other servers around the world |

I'm from Australia I ALWAYS have 230-300 ping while sparring I don't lag at all. I have no delay whatsoever (on tie hits I always win the match tho =O idk y) compared to someone like Nell. |
