No. Do not go to church. Church is the dumbest thing on Earth. Go see a therapist. This is the BIGGEST problem that people with depression will have - they refuse to go see a shrink because they think they're fine or they're too scared. Just try it and I assure you that you'll feel better. |

If you want my opinion, when I'm depressed, I start talking to my friends which really helps me cheer up

I don't have friends, most of my friends are miles away, or near the school, which is far from here

Have you been diagnosed to have the common symptoms of depression? There are different types and knowing which one in particular you have can help us. I advise seeking professional help in order to help you on a day to day basis. You have my support but I don't think words on a forum can help unless you speak with someone. Good luck

Depression..
I've struggled with depression in my past. It's very hard to break from it but it is possible. Here is what has worked for me: 1. Stay active. Don't be alone doing nothing where you have time to think negative thoughts. Make lots of friends. Talk to people all the time. Try helping other people with problems they have. I've found that trolling Colin relieves a lot of stress. 2 exercise. It's proven that exercise can relieve stress. Also, something that has worked for me is the harder you work out the less depressed you are. I think this is because when you workout really hard you get so tired you can barley think. 3. Eat healthy - sometimes people are depressed or more depressed then normal because of chemical imbalance. Eating a proper diet can help regulate. 4. Some will disagree with this one but it hands down worked for me. Get a relationship with Christ. I didn't want to do therapy, I knew I didn't want to be depressed but I couldn't shake it. It would always come back. Then I found Christ and depression was removed. Even when I go through hard times I am no longer depressed. It was the weirdest thing when Christ removed it. I could feel it. I'm sure people here will disagree with this (Colin), this is because he's never experienced a relationship with Christ. I promise if you ask anyone that has a relationship with Christ they can testify to this truth. This is not some tooth fairy type of thing it's real, and you once you come to know Christ nothing will make you doubt it. I hope you get rid of that depression quick bro. Are you serious? Are you really going to try and belittle someone's faith and religion? Come on man, I know you're a good moderator. Jesus is not a joke bro. You think that because you're a heathen. It was actually the best advice he received in this thread. You really are a fool and have no idea what you're talking about. |

I can understand in Sardons case, but for everyone else you don't just "get depressed". You get diagnosed with depression, it's not an emotion nor is it something you name yourself when you're sad. Now if you do feel like you're suffering from depression, take the appropriate steps; such as going to see your doctor or your gp, take his advice then go to see a therapist. I'm not a religious man myself though I do find church can be quite revealing and helps you settle things. Even if you don't enjoy it you'll find that you come out feeling a little better. Also, best of wishes to Sardon, OG and anyone else who has suffered or is suffering from depression. |

Church can totally help, and saying it can't is one of the most close minded and bigoted things I've heard. I'd love to know why having some sort of support group, that's main focus is bettering each other as people is such a bad thing.

Also, I bet you can't find a vicar or an active church goer who is a bad person. A tramp in my town goes to church. Used to be an alcoholic, walking the streets and shouting at people late at night. He started going to church and you never see him with alcohol, you can spark a nice conversation with him and he'll always say good morning and hello. Turned him into a great guy, same story with many other people homeless or not. If you think going to church is stupid, you're the stupid one. |

If you believe in a certain religion, accept the to-do and the don'ts it will help you a lot. It'll make you happy (happier) and will somewhat "heal your soul", or w/e. Just stick to something you want to have in your life, don't let it go and have it making you happy. Can be a human, can be something religious, an animal, even toys.
