This thread is about Destiny as a project, not your whiny obsession with me and/or the guild that keeps to themselves and towers there... |

1) The rewards aren't given out accurately. Many of the guilds just take advantage of random players to tower for them without even including them in the award. Which makes sense because the award is limited to 25 players, and since random players are being recruited and used for towering the number of people who actually contributed to the tower quickly exceeds 25. It comes down to the leader's choice. Obviously this can be unfair really quickly when a "bad" guild leader is in control, but in all actuality is it even possible to ever be fair? Nowadays most major tower taking guilds have sub branches with many more than 25 players. There's really no way for a guild leader to be fair in giving out hats. 2) Besides being unfair, the system really discourages community and new players from being involved in guilds. Seemingly gone are the days when a small group of friends could get together and maintain a tower casually. With the incentive of a hat upload that is not offered anywhere else on the server, the guild fort system (at least from my perspective) has dissolved into something of a monopoly that can be abused by upstanding members of the community for their own advantage. 3) The system also discourages growth of prominent guilds. I remember a few years ago when some major guilds (PULSE, Venus Gospel, and some others) were vying for the position of reaching significant milestones. They would go back and forth on the leader boards in something of a competition. It was exciting. But now there's no incentive to be competitive since much greater rewards can be found by just creating new "tower" guilds. One major cause of this is that when you reach 5,000 hours you win 2 hats. Why would anybody tower for 5,000 hours for 2 hats when they could tower for 1,000 hours for 1 hat 5 times? Obviously I think it's ridiculous that guilds abuse this system, but in all honesty who can blame them? If I were interested in spending thousands of hours of my time towering and leading guilds, I would be right there with everybody else creating 1,000 hour guilds for some cool hats. There's just no incentive to do anything else. And there's some minor solutions that could be made to change these. Staff could implement something so that each player who contributes, say, 250 hours to a tower's 1,000 receive a hat. Prizes could be offered at 2,000, 3,000, 4,000, and so forth thresholds to make things more balanced. But ultimately I think this entire system is just something of a 'leftover' from a past administration on Classic that focused more on egos, less on gameplay, and really at this point ought to be done away with completely. |

If only players and guilds that "effectively contribute to the community" were allowed to exist on the game, my god, Graal would be desolate. Not supporting either side though. On one hand, it really isnt too difficult to take; Sardons is still worse by a long shot. On the other hand, it probably is discouraging to the newer towering community to see the newest tower that everyone is interested in controlled by one guild. |

No idea why you're lashing out at me. My job isn't to "contribute to the community," it's to enjoy playing the game. I'm a player, not staff. On top of that, I'm almost positive that I've suggested more progressive things on this forum than any other non-staff player. Do I need to link you to examples?
Your post just seems like some salty rant, but I have no idea why it was directed towards me. |
