It does look pretty good, but it's not necessarily more detailed than other games.

A lot of SMRPG's sprites were made by flattening pre-rendered models to work in an isometric space, which isn't the best technique in the world.  

I love alttp, but it's too plain and simple, while star ocean is killing the wood and grass textures.

Crono Trigger has a lot more colors and lighting based on the pictures.

But... The trees, the rocks, all the textures on Secret of Mana ii definitely look better than the rest of the games based on the pictures.

My vote goes to SoM2

All I know is Earthbound has 5 more votes than FF6 and that rages me  

The monster and character sprites are good but the general "gfx"...I dunno, doesn't seem to be up there with the rest generally speaking. Earthbound looks much worse, I do agree.

I think Earthbound's look is very appropriate for the overall vibe the game has going for it when you actually play. It's a pretty silly game, and has silly graphics to match.

FF6 is so ugly mang.

Like Secret of Evermore, much of FFVI takes place in a crapsack world. So that accounts for why some areas of the game look very ugly. It's intentional.

There are a few areas that are more vibrant and lively, but halfway through the game, everything gets royally screwed up and the World of Balance becomes the World of Ruin.

Zelda, and by far in my opinion. Really clean style which plays to the low resolution of the SNES.
