I like the Logitech brand, but I know you Aussies get screwed on electronics and fair pricing. I am also not really aware of the online or B/M retailer scene there, so I can't really suggest "going to Best Buy to grab this XLR GamR Edge Brand Headset" Instead I'll ask some Qs. How do you plan to use it? How do you plan to purchase? |

Gaming, general talking on Skype. Ether purchasing online or in store - doesn't really bother me.

If you went to your preferred online retailer, where would that be? I could scope them out. The thing about headsets is that they fall into really one of three categories: Cheap and ****, cheap and good, expensive and good. Just make sure you register and/or keep your receipts because headsets seem to be the first things to die regularly for any serious gamer. |

The Logitech G35 7.1-Channel Surround Sound Headset is on sale here often and is really the cream of the crop in terms of money for quality in the category of gaming and VOIP. There's a lot of other stuff out there for bigger budgets but I am really hoping you can find it for something reasonable. Others in the Logitech brand, like the Logitech G430, are good options but they can be a bit odd. I own the G430 and it has a super long cable which is either going to be endearing or annoying. The Plantronics GameCom 780 headset is one I used for YEARS and I love it still. If you can find that, as an alternative, it's also good. There are a lot of off-brand headsets out there, I guess I can only suggest crawling the inventories and then finding reviews of any you're questionable of, for the most part they will either be plug-and-play beauties or outright garbage. |

Hmm well that headset has two cables, one for audio and one for recording. If you want it to both, I'd look for a small USB soundcard dongle. The answers you got are close, but I wouldn't get a two to one converter vs. a two to USB which will get the voice recording aspect if you need it.
