I'm just going to post a reply I made to someone on my Graal FB on their status that had a discussion similar to this. This applies mostly to dating on Graal but I supposed can apply to general online dating if you're open minded enough to read it as such.

You know what's ridiculous to me though. People who are very ignorant about this topic will hold onto it even if there is proof that there are countless successful relationships that started online. Even relationships on Graal like: Diz and Arty. Trigger and Aikan.

They've met each other and, as far as I know since I still talk to them, are very happy together. I'm very happy with Kelcey (Kaede). Believe me when I say she is like a girl version of me. I'm also going to see her sometime around Thanksgiving. After all she's only 3-5 hours away from me.

Proof such as this that shows long distance relationships can be just as successful as one that is had face-to-face. Yet the ignorant ones still believe they have the right to look down on others when it shouldn't matter.

And when I said "They've met each other", I meant they've met each other in real life after having relations only online for a time.

Its supposed to be PG-13 and I find dating on Graal something like just another thing to do. Like spar. I do not consider it to be actually dating. I mess around in guild chat a lot and show how much I love every single girl in my guild. Graal dating is a joke. There are the few couples that FaceTime and Skype, and some know each other outside of Graal.

I'm sure to many that "it's another thing" when it's online at all. From the things I've been through, and I've have both online and face-to-face relationships, there really is no difference other than the fact that one is at a distance and one is face-to-face. The thing though, about online dating, is there's A LOT of trust that needs to be had, which is something that A LOT of people can't comprehend or even start to handle.

Another thing ridiculous to me is that people compare the kids who go around saying "looking for gf 13/14" to the people who actually take time to get to know each other if they have the trust and belief that they are being real with one another. It isn't the same concept. Anyone can fake who they really are online and in real life, it's just easier to do it online. Ever heard of an alias? Or just the general term, a liar?
