Can someone educate me on this myth of "PK boosting"? Is this even a thing? |

PK Boosting is the act of a user speeding up the process of player killing. But the actual offense to get your PK stat reset is if players are letting you kill them over and over again without them killing you. Some girl named Infinity did that in Chris Kill'Em back when it was PK-enabled with addition of noob accounts. |

No its not. The "I PK at towers so I'm legit and you're a booster for mob PK'ing" thing is a little flawed because towers are also mobs of players where you just spam your sword and hope you get the kill, might be less people than at huge mobs but it's still the same thing. It's just a way for people who PK nonstop to make them selves sound better I mean people can boost as Bryan mentioned above, but 99% of the time someone calls someone a PK booster the person isn't actually boosting. |

Eh. Mob PKing looks like it takes no skill or brain power at all but there's an efficient and an inefficient way of gaining kills that way. I've said this a ton of times before and I still believe it. PKing is a measure of amassing a large quantity of kills, you're allowed to use bombs, arrows and your mount for a tactical advantage. It overall takes less skill to PK than spar (all good sparrers are good PKers but not all good PKers are good sparrers). Kind of went off on a tangent there, but yea. I don't think PK boosting is actually a thing unless you're killing your same noob acc #2 over and over again which is apparently illegal now anyways. |

we have something similar to this in the sparring community: "selective sparrers" or people who target less skilled players by only queueing against them or sparring in the side rooms. this is not "boosting" but results in a player's sparring win-loss stats to inflate in a way that is in no way reflective of a player's actual skill level in sparring. we can expose these players and everyone will see them as a trashy player with a fake ratio, but this will have no effect on their behavior. they will continue pretending they're actually good, running around through the side rooms continuing this disgusting process. what this jami noob has demonstrated in this video is not "boosting" but results in a player's pking stats to inflate in a way that is in no way reflective of a player's actual skill level in pking. there is nothing you can do about it. you can give them a reputation as a "mob pking noob" or something to no effect, they will just continue as selective sparrers do. they are playing the game in their own way of playing it, which happens to take much less skill. if this goes against your pking honor code or whatever, go crazy and insult them as much as you'd like but i don't see it coming to an end anytime soon, and i have no idea how to put an end to this problem. |

To me, "pk boosting" is killing players specifically to raise your stat. I mean, that's what you're doing, boosting your pk stat up. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, and having a "pk goal" is fine. The thing is, whether you're pking at a tower or in a mob, it's still pk boosting. It's just as Colin said, it's just swinging your sword and hoping to get a kill out of it. When mod's full of people in the flag room, it's basically the same thing as swinging at a mob. Some people have the mindset of doing it in the most efficient way, using pk techniques, but I'm sure there are people using those same techniques at the mobs. "Pk boosting", aside from the illegal way of pking the same person over and over excessively, is really just a mindset. I'm pretty sure most of the more skilled pkers do it for fun; for sport. They don't do it for the numbers, or so I assume. If people want to boost their pk stat, then why not do the most efficient thing and pick off people from a big mob of people? My pks are just from towering, so I don't really care either way. If people want to stand unmoving in a mob and spam their sword, it'll be extremely boring, but so be it. Just don't complain saying things like, "Hey, he/she has a lot of pks! But wait, he/she pks at mobs, I don't like him/her!" If you want to pk the fun way, then good for you. Other people, who just want to increase their stat, maybe they'll make use of this video. Anyu got 800,000 pks in 2,000 something hours. It's still an accomplishment, and she didn't cheat or break the rules. If you want a large pk stat like her, then go ahead and pk as she did. If you don't want to do it "that way", then just pk your own way, as long as you're having fun with it. |

The staffs' definition of "boosting" that will get you reset- killing an alternate account repeatedly, combining accounts (no longer possible), abusing glitches (respawn boost), or otherwise breaking other rules to gain kills. "Crowd/mob/riot pk" is not technically illegal. However, player density and movementis a thing here... When 20 people are just standing, not moving, bunched into a 4x4 tile square, (and pushed into a corner where knock-back and blink are ineffective), it takes zero brain power to stand in one spot and spam one button over and over. Also, another thing is overworld pk in general has instant respawn with no warp. IMO, crowd pk is comparable to sparring at balamb or angel clan (back when that existed)-- not breaking any rules, but people got easy, quick wins; rest of spar community frowned upon it. Or as Comyt said, it could be compared to selective sparring. And no, towers don't have "mobs of people where you just spam your sword." Most towers except Deadwood have a nice medium to large sized flag room with a much lower player density. If you have no spar skill or dont move around, youre going to die quickly. Tower PKing is more comparable to guild sparring. No, not even MoD fort is close to comparable to crowd pk. Ever since MoD's outdoor entrance became a nonpk zone, there has been less than half the traffic as before that change. The only difference between MoD and any other tower is the fact that there are more single PKers than attacking guilds; due to the short respawn distance. Do I care that it happens? No. However, there's a delusion that being at the top of the daily/weekly/total boards means youre good; which isnt necessarily true. I mean, look at your K/D ratio or somethin. js. |

Sometimes we as players get this delusion that we get to dictate what is consider good or bad based on the fact that we were pkrs/sparers/towerers first and for a long time.
