Workout Concern
Hello, I would like to know if you think it's good or bad to workout twice a day. I've been thinking of doing strength/weight training in the mornings and cardio in the evening/night as a two-a-day routine. Any thoughts or recommendations are considered. Edit: My nutritional diet is laid out as (50% protein, 30% carbs, 20% fat) |

If you are a beginner I would totally not worry about working out too much. Sometimes I'll go to the gym twice a day because I want to, and I'll hit the weights both times. However one of those trips will be focussed on high volume, and the other will be low volume with a focus on hypertrophy.

If you do go twice just watch your body. If you start to get sore then don't go back for awhile, otherwise you're overworking your muscles ever more and they're not repairing = aka, you wont gain any muscle until they repair. Everyone's body is different, there's no telling when your muscles will get tired or not. |

A part from this. I actually just got a bench press and some weights for my birthday. I'm able to do leg workouts for my hamstrings and quads and then also benching. I'm just curious, is there specific workout ruteins I should do? Or do I just do whatever I went whenever. I also want to get a 6 pack by summer. That's my goal :p and to gain a little more meat on my stomach area cuz my ribs sorta pop out cuz Ima skinny boi |

My suggestions if you're about to start: 1. Determine your goals in regards to what you're looking for(ripped/big/endurance) 2. Do research to find out what are some of the recommended routines for your desired goals(types of lifting/workout schedules/intensity) 3. Make a workout schedule that will fit your current schedule that allows you to be consistent 4. Plan your meals based on your workout schedule (search recommendations for what to eat before and after workouts) 5. grind and reach goal Notes:

If I can make one recommendation, make sure you get a good range of motion on your exercise plan. As in; don't focus on one exercise too much. I say this because if you get a bad overuse injury it can linger for a very long time. Also what goat said, can't stress enough how much stretching and warming up helps. In how well you do and in avoiding injuries |

Thanks for the comments and recommendations. I'll definitely do more research and will try different routines to see what fits me.

It really depends on your body and how much you can endure. I goto the gym every morning and then have football for 2 1/2 hours around 7-8 hours later. If you're just started out, take it slow and eaze into it.

If you want to do cardio aswell, do some HIIT-Cardio after your work out for 30 minutes, once a week only though. Even if you want to get ripped, once a week should be totally fine - saving time, too. Personally, I would go with 60-80% carbs and 10-20% for proteins and fat. If you want me to, I'll explain that once l am home. @Nanners, getting a sixpack is only about 25% workouts, you'll have to watch your eating behaviour which makes up about 50%, and the other 25% is cardio. I wouldn't want to go being ripped if I didn't visit the gym for a good 6 months though, else you'll may end up just looking way too skinny. |
