Privately hosted tournaments can't give out the same type of prizes as staff hosted. Some people refuse to enter on that basis alone. The only good, consisted player run tourney I've seen are Crimewatcher's 2v2s, but he hasn't done it as often after running it a few years.

The problem is that when sparrers like Thallen, Sarah and many others (myself included) have no interest in doing player run tournaments, it robs the entire tournament of legitimacy.

I think he's just saying most of the upper-tier sparrers won't care to compete unless it's official, which is true (in my case at least) I've done a lot of player-run tournaments and they aren't really fulfilling, I'm sure there are some who would compete though |
