I doubt it would make a difference. Most of the lag, I believe is due to having information sent to many players in real-time.

That's the head files, the body files, hats, levels, text. Other types of info are not as heavy as the previous, like stats, name, guild name (They aren't sent as constantly as hats, levels, etc)

The amount of loot is more of an individual stat. You can only see it, and you have to ask the server to tell you what that amount is. It isn't on your profile... your loot items are in a folder within your inventory.

Doubt it would make a difference, if anything it would be a very small difference, so it seems that loot was capped at 200 as an inconvenience. Force players to sell, and not feel comfy, whilst saving up. People would set milestones, like 1k or 10k loot.

Wait so there's a limit to looting AND the prices were changed? Looting is not even worth doing anymore. If Dusty can come out of his cave and explain this limitation, that'd be helpful.

They just did it to make you spend more time and make less money per timeframe, it's pretty obvious.
Kind of expected though so don't really see why it's such a big deal, 200 loot items is enough in my eyes

Sorry, but I really doubt it has to do with lag. As others have mentioned, it's just a number. There is no possible way a static number in memory could affect lag. What causes lag is when information is sent to and from the server, and in regards to loot, I would speculate only occurs when someone collects a piece of loot or requests to see how much loot they have through showloot. These actions' performances are not dependent on the amount of loot an individual has.

I'm fairly certain the loot limitation was put in place to force players to sell their loot. Dusty said he's trying to gauge how this change will affect the economy and whether or not he needs to make further tweaks. I assume it would be pretty difficult to determine the effect this change has if people refuse to sell their loot and just hoard it all instead.

Have you not read this thread? I went into pretty good detail why and suggestions. Limiting loot has nothing to do with memory it has everything to do with slowing down people from getting loot and it's incredibly obvious.

You get an estimate of 1K-1.3K gralats from selling 200 loot, basically what you get for Pyrat Bay minus the waiting period.
