sucks that I submitted the original "8-bit console" and "16-bit console" sprite work for xmas, (the nes getting accepted) and I didn't get either for free when it looks like not much was changed.

I mean it's a completely new graphic that was going to be made regardless of whether similar ones existed before... And I mean it's based on the actual consoles not your work. That's not even considering the fact there's no way to track down who made some sprite so many years ago. If you got your original submission for free I don't see what the problem is.
