I reckon each graal game should start offering a season pass, where people pay an amount to get all the in game updates available to them. They could make it so you have to get a new one every year, and charge something small to start off (maybe $20 USD?) What do you think?

The main content is meant to be free.

It's extra stuff like guild houses, character slots, and more customization where in-app purchases come in.

and gralat packs. Can't forget gralat packs.

exactly! We would be supporting the games dev costs

that is eerily similar to what they tried to implement on PC Graal. And look at it now.  

i would agree if all of the money went to developers for the game, and the game was constantly updated with new things (COMPETITIVE STUFF, not more bs gfx and nexus nonsense)
but all the money is mainly going to one rich french dude who even checked on a single servers development in years.
learn more about where the money is going before u think of ideas

Nope. You shouldn't pay for updates, it's their job to update the game. However, it would be a cool idea to be capable of sending donations towards the developers to support them and motivate them to work actively on graal.

What your suggesting would make a lot of players quit playing classic :/  

When I feel like I need to contribute to the maintenance of graal I just buy a gralat pack, usually at Christmas time Seems like a decent way to show I support the game
